BRING BACK THE SHORT STORY
Further to my post SAVING THE SHORT STORY MARKET, I have made an attempt to show the magazines that we are interested in reading short stories by leaving messages on their facebook pages. I’ve included some links and am hoping you too can show your support by visiting Facebook and ‘liking’ my comment, adding to it or creating a comment of your own:
If the UK short story writers would be kind enough to post some links to the magazines that have stopped publishing fiction it would be greatly appreciated, and I would be more than happy to express my interest in short stories being again published in their magazines. THANK YOU! J
Hi Diane. I am now off to Facebook to let those mags know that they should bring back the short fiction. Can only hope that with enough voices the mags will do something about it.
ReplyDeleteHi Diane
ReplyDeleteI've commented on Woman - and will zip over to the others shortly.

I've commented on them, Diane.
ReplyDeleteHere's a couple more UK ones that dropped the short story:

Good post, Diane. I'm putting all the links I find up on my blog too.
ReplyDeleteThank you very much all - we're doing what we can, and that's what counts. I've gone and commented on the other links. Good one Patsy, thanks.

Hey, Woman mag has replied, too
ReplyDeleteWoman Magazine Hi Elaine, Joanne and all you other fiction fans. Thanks for your comments. While there are no plans to reintroduce fiction to Woman at present, our Summer Special is on sale on July 1 which has a number of short stories in for you to enjoy....
Good to read some replies coming in. Got one from Woman's Day (Australia) who is passing comments on to editor. We can hope something comes of this - you never know! x
ReplyDeleteOooops posted the wrong Woman's Day link on this blog. (embarrassment and apologies) Meant to post the Australian one, apparently this is the American one and to confuse matters I posted on the New Zealand one OMG... LOL.. I've obviously gone senile!

LOL, Diane. Me, too! I actually got a reply from the American Woman's Day askingme if I was referring to the one published in US! The poster went on to say they haven't had fiction for a while, but there will be a short story in their Oct issue. I left an encouraging reply!
ReplyDeleteThought I'd commented yesterday, Diane, but my Internet connection has been dreadful for days now. Keeping up with your save the short story project!
ReplyDeleteI'm hoping to do a blog post soon with some other types of short story markets.
Hello Pat, LOL. Who knows maybe our comments to the other Woman's Day FB pages might give them a nudge too. I got a reply from New Zealand Woman's Day who are passing comments on to the Editor.
ReplyDeleteHi Rosemary, Thanks for your comment. (My internet connectin is playing up this morning. Tried to post this four times!) I'm looking forward to reading your blog post with some other types of short story markets.
MORE GOOD NEWS! Australian Women's Weekly have read post in Facebook and are passing on the request to publish short stories again to their team! Fingers crossed.
